# Subscribe, change plan or cancel

Start a paid plan with Stripe Checkout, upgrade or downgrade from the Billing page, and cancel at any time. See when each change takes effect and what happens to credits.

## Before you start

You need a signed-in UOVA account and a card. Checkout accepts a card only: there are no other payment methods, no free trial and no promo-code field.

## Subscribe to a plan

1. **Open the pricing page** Use [/pricing](https://www.uova.com/pricing) for Basic, Pro and Studio. Creator, at $179 a month or $1,788 a year, is on [/studio/pricing](https://www.uova.com/studio/pricing) only.
2. **Choose monthly or annual** The page opens on annual. Annual billing saves up to 38%.
3. **Select the plan** UOVA opens Stripe Checkout for a subscription.
4. **Pay by card** Your plan and its credit allowance apply once Stripe confirms the payment.

If your bank asks for card authentication (3-D Secure), UOVA resumes the same payment after you confirm it. It does not charge twice.

## Change plan

If you already have a live subscription you are never given a second checkout. Your subscription is changed in place from the Billing page in your account settings.

1. **Open Billing** Account settings, then **Billing & credits**. The **Plan** section shows your plan with a pill: **Active**, **Payment due** or **Ends <date>**. Select **Change plan**, or go to the **Plans** section.
2. **Choose monthly or annual, then the new plan** A **Monthly** and **Annual** switch sits above the plan cards. The button on each card says **Upgrade**, **Downgrade to <plan>**, **Switch to annual** or **Switch to monthly**, and your own card reads **Current plan**.
3. **Confirm** A **Switch to <plan>** window shows the amount that will be charged and asks you to select **Confirm**. A change only goes through with a fresh confirmation, which expires after 1 hour. Without one, nothing is charged. For an upgrade the window shows the amount charged today, which is the difference for the rest of your billing period. For a downgrade or a switch to monthly it says you will be charged $0 today and the change takes effect at the end of your paid period. After you confirm one of those, the window becomes **Plan change scheduled** with "Nothing was charged today" and a **Done** button.

| Change | When it takes effect | What you pay |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Upgrade to a higher plan | Now | The difference for the rest of the billing period, today |
| Monthly to annual, same plan | Now | The difference for the rest of the billing period, today |
| Downgrade to a lower plan | End of the paid period | $0 today |
| Annual to monthly | End of the paid year | $0 today |

If your card is declined on an upgrade, your plan stays as it was and you receive a link to the billing portal to fix the card. If your last payment failed, the Plan section says "Your last payment didn't go through. Update your card in the billing portal to keep your plan."

## What happens to credits when you change plan

- An upgrade swaps this month's limit to the new plan's number. Credits already used this month still count against it, so the new allowance does not stack on the old one.
- A downgrade takes effect at the end of the paid period, so your current plan stays until then.
- Once a downgrade has started, the new plan's allowance applies to the calendar month you are in, counted against the credits you have already used that month. If that is already more than the new allowance, generation resumes on the 1st unless you have bought credits.
- Credits you bought in packs are not touched by any plan change.

## Update your card and see invoices

Select **Manage billing** on the Billing page to open the Stripe billing portal. It returns you to the Billing page when you finish. The Billing page also lists your invoices, your credit usage and your credit history. What the portal offers is set in Stripe; if an option is missing there, use the Billing page.

## Cancel

1. **Cancel online** Use **Manage billing** on the Billing page, or email billing@uova.com from the address on your account.
2. **Keep your plan until the period ends** Cancelling stops all future renewals. It takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and your paid features stay until then.
3. **Check the end date** The Billing page shows an **Ends <date>** pill and "Your plan ends on <date>. Reactivate it in the billing portal." The **Manage billing** button then reads **Reactivate or manage**.

When the subscription ends, the account returns to the Free plan and the allowance becomes 250 credits a month. Credits you bought in packs stay in your wallet. Custom domains and removing the UOVA badge are paid features, so they are available only on a paid plan.

> **Deleting an account:** An account cannot be deleted while a paid subscription is live. Cancel first. You can download your data as a JSON export from your account settings.

## If a payment fails

If a renewal fails, the subscription goes to past due and UOVA sends you a payment email. Per the Terms, UOVA may retry the charge and may suspend paid features after a grace period. A fully refunded plan charge or a lost dispute drops the account to Free.
