# Email and forwarding: what is not included

UOVA domains do not include email hosting, mailboxes, email forwarding or domain forwarding. This page lists what is missing and what UOVA does instead.

A domain on UOVA points your web address at your site. It does not come with email, and UOVA does not forward email or web visitors from one address to another.

## What is not included

| Feature | Today |
| --- | --- |
| Email hosting or mailboxes | Not available. |
| Email forwarding | Not available. |
| Domain forwarding to another address | Not available. |
| A DNS record editor | Not available. DNS rows are read-only with **Copy**. |
| A WHOIS privacy switch | Not available. WHOIS privacy is on for domains bought through UOVA. |

> **Pages that say otherwise:** Some pages at [uova.com/domains](https://www.uova.com/domains) describe email forwarding and domain forwarding. Those features do not exist today, and this page is the accurate one.

## Email on your own domain

For a domain you connected, your DNS stays at your registrar, so mail records are yours to manage there with any email provider. UOVA only needs the A, CNAME and TXT records described in [DNS records and SSL](https://www.uova.com/help/build/domains/dns-and-ssl) and does not check or manage the rest.

For a domain you bought through UOVA, the nameservers are set to the hosting provider's at registration. UOVA offers no screen to add DNS records or to change nameservers, so you cannot add mail records yourself in UOVA. If you need mail records on a name, connect a domain you registered elsewhere, or use **Transfer out…** to move the name to a registrar that gives you DNS control (see [Renew, transfer or remove a domain](https://www.uova.com/help/build/domains/renew-transfer-remove)).

## The only redirects that exist

When a verified custom domain is primary, your `<slug>.uova.io` address and any other connected domain of the same site are redirected to the same page on it with a 308 redirect. A connected domain serves the exact name you added, so to serve both a bare name and its `www` form, connect both names (see [Connect a domain you own](https://www.uova.com/help/build/domains/connect-your-own-domain)).

The dashboard SEO page also has path **Redirects** for moving old paths on your own site. They run in the visitor's browser and are not domain forwarding (see [SEO settings](https://www.uova.com/help/build/seo)).

## What UOVA does with email today

- Messages sent through your site's forms land in the **Inbox** in your dashboard.
- Each submission is also emailed to your account email, or to the recipient you set in the editor's Project settings > **Forms**: a **Default recipient** for all forms, and optional recipients for specific form types. A blank field uses your account email.
- By default UOVA emails up to 20 submissions per site per day. Every submission is stored and appears in the Inbox. After the 20th, UOVA sends you one summary notice at the end of the day (23:55 UTC) saying how many more arrived.
- You reply from your own email program: **Reply by email** opens a `mailto:` link. There is no reply from inside UOVA.

See [Inbox and form messages](https://www.uova.com/help/account/inbox) for the limits on those emails.

**Can I get a mailbox at my own domain through UOVA?**

No. UOVA does not host email.

**Can I redirect an old domain to my new one?**

UOVA has no domain forwarding. A domain you connect serves the site directly, and a non-primary domain of the same site redirects to the primary one.

**Can I stop the form emails?**

Yes. Each email says you can turn it off in Settings > Notifications. The daily summary respects the owner's **New message email** switch too. Messages still appear in the Inbox either way.

**Where do I see my contact-form messages?**

In your dashboard Inbox, and by email to the recipient you chose in Project settings > **Forms**.
