# Emails from UOVA

Every email UOVA sends, when it is sent, who receives it and how to stop the ones you can. Also what UOVA does not email, such as a publish confirmation.

UOVA sends from three fixed addresses. `UOVA <noreply@uova.com>` sends account, billing, domain, digest, alert and getting-started mail. `UOVA Forms <forms@uova.com>` sends the notices about messages from your site's forms. `UOVA <hello@uova.com>` sends the order confirmation for done-for-you websites. Each table below says which emails carry an unsubscribe link and which are service messages with none.

## Sign-in and account

| Email | Sent when | Who gets it | Stop it |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Sign-up code | You select **Create account** in the email sign-up. It holds an 8-character code. | The address you typed | Not optional. Ignore it if you did not ask. |
| "You already have a UOVA account" | A sign-up code is requested for an address that already has an account. It holds no code and points you to sign in or reset your password. The sign-up window normally stops you first with "This email is already registered. Log in instead." | That address | Not optional. |
| Password reset link | You select **Forgot password?** in the sign-in window. It is sent by UOVA's sign-in provider, so its sender and wording are set there. | The address you typed, if it has an account | Ignore it if you did not ask. Your password stays the same. |
| "Welcome to UOVA — build your first site in minutes" | Right after you create an account with email, with a link to build your first site. | The new account | Use the unsubscribe link in the email. |

## Getting-started nudges

Daily jobs send these, and each step is sent to a person once. A person gets at most one per daily run, only to a confirmed email address, and each carries an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops the second to fifth emails in the table, which are the onboarding and win-back steps.

| Subject | Sent when | Who gets it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| "Your site is one prompt away" | 24 to 96 hours after sign-up, if you have not generated a site. | Accounts that never generated |
| "Make your site unmistakably yours" | 24 to 48 hours after sign-up. | Accounts with no published site |
| "Make it feel real — add your own domain" | 72 to 120 hours after sign-up. | Accounts with no published site |
| "One click from live" | 168 to 216 hours after sign-up. | Accounts with no published site |
| "What you can build on UOVA now" | 14 to 16 days and again 30 to 32 days after sign-up. | Accounts with no published site |

## Billing

| Subject | Sent when | What it holds |
| --- | --- | --- |
| "Your UOVA <plan> plan is active" | A paid plan starts. | Plan, amount, next billing date, a link to Billing |
| "Receipt — UOVA <plan> renewed (<amount>)" | A paid plan renews. | Plan, amount charged, next billing date |
| "Your UOVA payment didn't go through" | A renewal charge fails. A first payment awaiting card authentication does not trigger it. | A link to update your payment method |

These are service messages with no unsubscribe link. They go to the billing email on your subscription. Stripe emails receipts and invoices separately, and invoices are also in Billing & credits. See [Refunds, taxes and invoices](https://www.uova.com/help/billing/refunds-taxes-invoices).

## Domains

UOVA emails the buyer of a domain at each stage. These are service messages with no unsubscribe link.

| Subject | Sent when |
| --- | --- |
| "<domain> is yours" | A purchase succeeded. |
| "We couldn't register <domain> — you've been refunded" | The registry rejected the registration and the payment was refunded. |
| "Transfer of <domain> started" | A transfer in began. |
| "<domain> has arrived" | A transfer in completed. |
| "Transfer of <domain> didn't go through — you've been refunded" | A transfer failed and the payment was refunded. |
| "<domain> renews in 30 days" or "<domain> expires on <date> — auto-renew is off" | 30 days before expiry. The wording depends on whether auto-renew is on. |
| "<domain> expires on <date> — auto-renew is off" | 7 days before expiry, only for a domain UOVA cannot charge automatically. |
| "<domain> renewed for another year" | An automatic renewal succeeded. |
| "Action needed: renewal payment for <domain> failed" | A renewal charge failed, and again when UOVA stops retrying and turns auto-renew off. |
| "Final notice: <domain> expires <date>" | Once the expiry date has passed without a renewal. |

See [Renew, transfer or remove a domain](https://www.uova.com/help/build/domains/renew-transfer-remove) for how renewal works.

## Your sites

| Email | Sent when | Stop it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| "New message on <site> from <sender>" | A visitor submits a form on a published site. It comes from `UOVA Forms <forms@uova.com>`, goes to your account email or the recipient set for that form, and replying reaches the visitor. Spam is never emailed. | Account settings, Notifications, **New message email**, per live site. |
| "<n> more messages on <site> today" | A site passes 20 message emails in a UTC day. One summary is sent at 23:55 UTC to your account email, and every message stays in the Inbox. | The same switch. |
| "Your week on <site> — <n> visitors" | Mondays, for each live site with the digest on and some activity. Visitors, page views, messages, new subscribers, week-on-week change and top pages. | **Weekly digest** switch, or the unsubscribe link in the email. |
| Traffic alert | Checked each morning against the last 28 days: a spike, a drop, or fewer visitors than the floor you set in the site's Analytics > **Alerts**. At most one a day for each type and site. | **Traffic alerts** switch, or the unsubscribe link. |

If you use sign-up pop-ups and Campaigns, UOVA also sends a "Confirm your subscription to <site>" email to a visitor who joins your list, and your campaign emails to your contacts, each with an unsubscribe link. If you set up an automation that notifies you, UOVA emails you an alert when it fires.

## Stores

On a site with a store, UOVA sends these order emails.

| Subject | Sent when | Who gets it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| "Order confirmed — #<number>" | A shopper's payment completes and they gave an email. | The shopper |
| "New order — #<number> · <amount>" | The same payment. | You, at your account email |
| "Your order is on its way — #<number>" | You mark an order fulfilled in Orders. | The shopper |
| Abandoned-cart reminder | A cart has been left for at least 1 hour and at most 72 hours. Once per cart, with an unsubscribe link. | The shopper |
| Store sign-in link | A shopper asks for a link on the store's account page. It is valid for 7 days. | The shopper |

## Orders

After you pay for an Express or Starter done-for-you website, UOVA emails an order confirmation from `UOVA <hello@uova.com>` with the subject "Your UOVA <tier> website — order UOVA-<code>". It lists what to put in your brief and asks you to reply with it, attaching any logo or photos to your reply, because there is no upload form. See [Done-for-you website projects](https://www.uova.com/help/billing/services).

## What UOVA does not email

- A confirmation when you publish. You see the result in the editor, and there is no "your site is live" email.
- A confirmation to the visitor who fills in a form on your site. They get nothing automatically.
- A reminder before an annual plan renews. The renewal date is in Billing & credits.
- A sign-in link for your own account. There is no magic-link sign-in.
- A receipt or ticket number when you send a support message. The form sends your message and shows success on a real send, and nothing is emailed back.
- Text messages. UOVA never sends SMS.
