Sections
Hide, show, move and delete sections, and learn what template pages pin, hide or refuse to move.
For the complete documentation index, see llms.txt. This page is also available as Markdown.
#Section settings
Select a section and open the Design tab. Section settings offers spacing presets (None, Compact, Cozy, Spacious) and a Hide section or Show section button. See The Design inspector.
#Delete, hide and move sections
Generated sites are built on one of the templates and keep its element ids, so the template rules apply to a generated site as well as to a site you started from a template.
| Action | A section the template made | A section you added |
|---|---|---|
| Delete | Hides the section instead. It stays in Layers, can be shown again, and undo restores it. | Removes it for real. |
| Move up or down | Steps past the next visible template section, and the page then paints in document order. | Swaps with the neighbouring element. |
| Hide or Show | Hides or shows the section. A hide is honoured on the live site. | The same. |
The Delete button in the quick-action row asks "Delete \"<name>\"?" first. The Delete key and the Layers menu do not ask.
#What is pinned on template pages
- The navigation, including its drawer or menu.
- The footer.
- The footer's legal line, the "©" line.
- Configuration blocks, whose names end in a
cfgmarker. - Nothing can move above the navigation or below the footer.
A refused move or delete shows as a disabled button with the reason as a tooltip, such as "Can't move up: the site's navigation". The reasons are listed in Layers, move, hide, duplicate, delete.
#Sections that cannot move alone
- A section the template paints inside another section cannot be moved on its own. It stays right behind its host.
- A row that the page does not paint cannot be moved or deleted, and the Layers panel leaves it out.
#Common questions
On a template page Delete hides the section. Use Show in the quick-action row to bring it back.
